GALTEC ASSOCIATES LLP was formed in 2002 with the specific aim of assisting companies, particularly small to medium sized businesses, to successfully apply for Freight Facilities Grants.

Freight Facilities Grants are available to encourage sustainable distribution and are designed to balance the cost of waterborne freight where it would otherwise be more expensive than road transport.

The Transport Act 2000, Section 272 gives the Government powers to award freight facilities grants in these cases. The Department for Transport administers the processing of applications and awards the grants.

All well and good, but from our own experience we know how complex it is for businesses to:

  1. Find time to assemble and process the paperwork; and
  2. Understand the system sufficiently to successfully drive it through the Civil Service machine.
However, GALTEC ASSOCIATES LLP is equipped with the experience and knowledge to accomplish all the necessary procedures as quickly and as efficiently as possible in order to convert a concept for transferring freight from road to water into a reality.

GALTEC ASSOCIATES LLP brings together qualified transport professionals with wide experience in both the private and public sector with specific knowledge of and accomplishments in:

  • Award of Freight Facilities Grants
  • Department for Transport Shipping Policy
  • EU Marco Polo grant programme
  • Hands-on management of road and shipping logistics
  • Coastal and Short Sea Shipping
  • Inland Waterways and Lighterage
  • UK and EU logistics planning
  • Port management
  • Ship’s Agency
Our assistance is likely to appeal to:
  • All transport planners
  • Operators of inland and short sea shipping
  • Operators of estuarial, river and canal side wharves
  • Freight Forwarders
  • Companies moving high volume, low value cargoes
  • Anyone, including local government, with an interest in moving freight, particularly in urban environments, where navigable waterways are adjacent
